Design of new television production and post-production complex on the Hudson River waterfront in Manhattan. The facility was to be built on top of the St. John's Center building at Houston and West Streets in Manhattan's Soho district. The design for the building included five sound stages ranging in size from 12,500 to 18,300 sq. ft. When completed, the largest studio would have had 45' high ceilings. Hudson River Studios would have been the first purpose-built TV production facility in Manhattan. It was to have been the first production/post-production complex in Manhattan equipped with digital and high-definition television capabilities. The complex was planned to be self-contained, with everything from production to post-production spaces and offices, set-design shops, space for film crews, make-up, dressing rooms, a day-care center, a cafe and even a small gym. Of the overall 450,000 sq. ft. project size, 375,000 sq. ft. was to have been new construction and 100,000 sq. ft. was to have been renovated.
