2006 - Dialysis Alterations
The existing Dialysis Suite at the Stratton VA Medical Center, in Albany, New York, was comprised of a series of individual rooms with limited staff area. Spectra redesigned the space with a centralized nurse area and openings in walls for the staffs visual control of the patient spaces. Our firm was responsible for documenting existing conditions, schematic design, construction documents and project management.

2004 - 9th Floor Dining Room Renovation
Spectra provided design services to the Stratton VA Medical Center to renovate a 9th floor multi purpose room into a small dinning room for long stay and psychiatric patients and their family members. Consideration in finish, color, pattern and texture was required for patient care. ADA clearances where required for patients and staff. Spectra was responsible for schematic design, construction documents, bid negotiations and construction administration for this project.

2004 - SPCC Measures Plan
SPECTRA provided the VA Medical Center in Albany, New York, with a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan that incorporated the development of a comprehensive plan to prevent, control and mitigate spills and related contingency events dealing with petroleum products, hazardous materials and hazardous waste materials.

2004 - Renovate 2nd Floor X-ray Rooms
The Stratton VA in Albany, N.Y. upgraded an X-Ray station in the second floor X-Ray Department. Spectra worked with the equipment supplier and the VA to prepare the construction drawings to install the X-Ray equipment. The X-Ray room required a lead lined control wall with a view panel that separated the staff during exposure time. The project also involved the renovation of a multi compartment darkroom to a larger space to accommodate the digital film processors and X-Ray viewing area. The project included the removal of asbestos flooring, demolition of ceilings, the installation of new flooring and the patch and painting of walls. Spectra provided design drawings, construction documents, bidding assistance and construction administration services.

2004 - Water Main Replacement
The Stratton VA Medical Center, in Albany, New York, experienced several pipe failures in their main water supply to the facility. After examination of the sections of pipe that had failed, it was determined that the acidic nature of the surrounding soil was causing the 12" diameter cast iron pipe to corrode. The best option for the longevity of the water supply system was to replace the water main pipe from the buildings on campus to the backflow prevention units at the facilities connection to the city supply. The project included schematic design, construction documents, bid negotiations, construction management and construction inspection.

2004 - Renovate Cardiac Cath. Lab.
Spectra redesigned an existing 1,600s.f. Cardiac Catherization Laboratory at the Stratton VA Medical Center. The Procedure room contains a new floor mounted Allura Imaging unit by Philips Medical Systems with a ceiling hung monitor system. The space around the control area was opened up to allow staff to access medical data without interfering with the lab staff during procedures yet have visual access into the Procedure room. One design intent was to soften the appearance of the space thought the use of wood accents and the use of direct and indirect lighting levels. The program consisted of a Procedure Room, Control Area and Data Access Area, Computer Room, Patient Entry, Surgeons Scrub in Area, Solid Utility Room, Bathroom and Storage Areas. SPECTRA was responsible for documenting the existing conditions, schematic design, construction documents, bid negotiations and construction administration.

2003 - Gen. Term Work
Spectra secured a 5 year contract through a competitive bid process for term work at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York. The architectural staff in our Latham office is providing all five phases of architectural services and coordinating the engineering services that SPECTRA is supplying. While developing projects we work closely with VA staff, facility project management officers and hospital upper management. We have designed and provided construction management for a 2000 s.f. Recovery Room, a 1,600 s.f. Cardiac Catheterization Lab., Medical Gas Survey, 400 s.f. X-Ray room, 2 Dialysis station alterations, a 500 s.f. ICU Room renovation, A Fall Prevention plan and the replacement of the water main to the facility as part of this contract.
