Although the Ambulatory Care Building (Ron Brown Building or RBB) was completed in 1996, the Facility never obtained the final Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.). DASNY retained Robert Coles and David Walsh to lead the A/E team that would be responsible for obtaining the C.O. As the project began other problems developed that the team had to resolve. The most serious was related to the disruption of the existing building's egress by the construction of the New Patient Pavilion immediately adjacent to the existing building. In addition the filed plans did not reflect the numerous changes made to the building during and after the construction.
My responsibilities as project manager included coordination of the work of the expediter with the architectural work and the work of the consultants and tracking the issues requiring resolution at the Department of Buildings. In addition to project management I was responsible for production and coordination of drawings and other required documents and all required code analysis such as changes to egress.
